A complicated stowage with a successful end.

A complicated stowage with a successful end.

Liberty Cargo has recently completed a complicated stowage of goods which arrived at Algeciras port. The cargo, with destination in Madrid, was made up of 4 flat racks of large wooden crates which contained high performance, highly sophisticated electric engines. All the platforms were outsized, both lengthwise and well as height wise, all with different requirements. Hence, we devised a made-to-measure solution, using both conventional transport to special convoys with low carriages and autopilot cars.

The most difficult crate was not apt for road transport on flat rack, as such we had to organize the transfer in the customs dock. Given its huge size, we could only leave the terminal through the south exit, and had to close traffic around the ferry terminal briefly and remove some of the urban pieces with heavy equipment.

Once we arrived at the warehouse, a high tonnage crane winch was used to handle the crate in question, necessitating a mixed team of handlers, crane operators, transport workers, quality control inspectors, as well as staff from Liberty Cargo, who came expressly from Barcelona to coordinate and handle the operation.

In just 12 hours all the transport was underway on its destination to Madrid, where it arrived and delivered without incident.
